On June 23, 2017, Skytanking signed the purchase agreement to acquire the staff and assets of Sun Jet Services GbR (asset deal). The Sun Jet Services group, which consists of four unincorporated joint ventures, offers aviation refuelling services at Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Cologne airports. Its current owners are Shell Deutschland, Total Deutschland and Tramp Oil Germany who hold one third each.

By adding Düsseldorf and Cologne, Skytanking will now have operations in the two major cities on the Rhine, and will offer aviation fuelling services at six of Germany’s eight largest airports. “We are delighted that we will be expanding our network in Germany to two key locations and by more than 150 highly qualifiedemployees,” says Christoph Lindke, Managing Director of Skytanking in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH). “Our existing site in Frankfurt will also benefit from this strengthened market presence.”

Service Agreements have been concluded with Shell Deutschland, Total Deutschland and Tramp Oil Germany for the time following the transaction. In addition to into-plane fuelling services in Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Cologne, Skytanking will also take over the operation of the airport tank terminal in Düsseldorf.

The final closing of the transaction is expected in the coming months, and is subject to approval by the relevant antitrust authorities.

Skytanking is a subsidiary of Marquard & Bahls, a Hamburg-based family-owned company that operates in the fields of energy supply, trading and logistics. Skytanking provides a full range of aviation fuelling services including building, owning and operating aviation fuel storage and hydrant facilities, and providing into-plane services to airlines, airports and oil companies. Skytanking handles 15.8 million cbm of aviation fuel per year, refuelling 1.4 million aircraft at 68 airports in 12 countries in Europe, Asia and Africa.
